Bonded In History

A RENOWNED DIVING LEGEND, THE OMEGA SEAMASTER IS THE QUINTESSENTIAL CHOICE OF ADVENTURERS AND THE WORLD’S MOST FAMOUS FICTIONAL SUPERSPY

Since it first appeared in 1993, the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M instantaneously achieved worldwide success. Admired for its iconic design, technical prowess and ocean technology, the Seamaster immediately garnered a legendary following, making it the top choice of divers, athletes, researchers and adventurers. It also became the choice timepiece for the world’s most famous fictional spy.

Most importantly, the Seamaster also signalled Omega’s return to the world of diving and for 25 years it has remained one of the industry’s most popular dive watches.  But the Seamaster’s main claim to fame is its long-standing relationship with the James Bond film franchise, having begun its appearance alongside the British superspy in 1995’s Goldeneye featuring Pierce Brosnan as agent 007.

It is also set to feature in the 25th Bond film, due in cinemas in 2020, with Daniel Craig strapping on his suit and his trusty timepiece for his fifth run as Ian Fleming’s beloved superspy. Although pop culture has played a significant role in popularising the Seamaster, its abilities, capabilities and appeal has stretched beyond the realm of film. And this is why for a quarter of a century; this timepiece remains as a standard bearer for dive watches everywhere.

The Choice Of Legends

Since its debut, the Seamaster has achieved numerous accolades and milestones including capturing the coveted ‘Watch of the Year’ prize by German magazine Armbanduhren in 1994. A year prior, French free diver, Roland Specker, strapped on the model in his world record freshwater free dive of 80m in Lake Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Over the years, the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M became the choice timepiece of numerous sportsmen and personalities including legendary Russian swimmer, Alexander Popov and Swiss tennis star, Martina Hingis. It was also the preferred timepiece of legendary sailor and environmentalist, Sir Peter Blake who wore the Diver 300M during his important scientific work researching ecological and marine issues around the world.

Built For The Depths

Living up to its name, the Seamaster is designed for life beneath the waves. The 2018 model continues that heritage with a newly-improved Helium Escape Valve and a revised design and increased functionality. Now sized at a larger 42mm, each new Diver 300M has been given a Master Chronometer Calibre 8800, instantly taking the collection into a higher realm of precision, performance and magnetic resistance. All indexes have been raised and filled with Super- LumiNova and, to keep track of the days, the date window has been moved to 6 o’clock. Even the skeleton hands (rhodium-plated, 18K gold, or blued) have been subtly reshaped – an element fans of the model will surely notice.

Modern Appeal

The latest Seamaster benefits from a fresh design twist and new materials, giving the Seamaster a new heightened appeal. Omega has rolled out 14 unique models including six in stainless steel and eight in a mix of stainless steel and 18K gold.  The iconic diving bezel now arrives in ceramic with the diving scale in Ceragold™ or white enamel for longer-lasting whiteness and durability. The sapphire crystal caseback also provides a clear view of the METAS-approved movement at work. The most significant change is its polished ceramic dials, now featuring the reintroduced wave pattern, which was a key feature of the original design. In terms of strap options, Omega presents the new Seamaster with its traditional iconic metal bracelet, now with a new ergonomic design or an integrated black or blue rubber strap, both of which are highly-suited for all sorts of marine based escapades.
