The Uptown Sweetheart

Zenith Star Open, paired with Kate Spade New York dress and accessories

Since 1865, Zenith has also been dedicating its legend to women. From the first enamelled pocket watches to jewellery pendant watches along with complicated wristwatches, its creations are an anthem to elegance and to the watchmaking art. And history is merely a prologue, as the new Zenith Star eloquently testifies. The Zenith Star Open testify to a two-fold influence: that of feminine and daring cushion-shaped ladies’ watches; and that of a fine and exceptionally reliable mechanism. Their undeniable technical feats are combined with subtle aesthetic refinement.

Embodying the philosophy of absolute performance, the Zenith Star Open pays tribute to the El Primero calibre. Right at first glance, this model draws the gaze to the expressive strength of its original cushion shape accentuated by an opening at 10:30 revealing the legendary heart of the mechanical automatic movement, El Primero Calibre 4062. This window onto the escapement thus shows the intricate inner workings of the movement: the high frequency is no longer an abstract principle, since one can actually keep track of the oscillations and see the watch beating. Governed by the unshakeable conviction that the true perfection of a work of art is perceptible in its smallest details, the movement decoration is visible through a sapphire caseback.

The Wonder Woman

Piaget Altiplano, paired with Kate Spade New York dress and accessories

The Piaget Altiplano single-handedly embodies Piaget’s identity and its acknowledged expertise in the realm of the ultra-thin. Loyal to its characteristic pure lines and well-respected classicism, the Altiplano collection is enriched with a model appearing for the first time in a 40 mm diameter. In keeping with these new dimensions, the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget has equipped this Altiplano watch with a state-of-the-art 12-lignes (12’’’) movement, Manufacture Piaget Calibre 838P. This ultra-thin hand-wound movement is a mere 2.5 mm thick. While the new model retains the aesthetic codes of the Altiplano collection – a slender, elegant case and an understated dial with simple or double transferred hour-markers and baton-shaped hands – it is distinguished by its 40 mm diameter, its small seconds at 10 o’clock and by a Piaget logo at 3 o’clock ensuring a perfectly harmonious overall effect. The white gold case is fitted with a sapphire crystal back enabling one to admire all aspects of the movement decoration, such as circular Côtes de Genève and blued screws which are the signature features of Piaget movements

The Casual Wealth

Zenith Helios, paired with La Martina outfit and accessories

When Zenith developed the first El Primero its design and performance offered a level innovation and ingenuity reflective of the time; namely, 1969. In keeping with the original, and in many ways exceeding it, this El Primero Helios is a timepiece as unique as it is stylish and high performance. Indeed the luxurious dark brown alligator leather strap leads up to a magnificent stainless steel case which houses a silver dial of supreme artistry. Delivering the best in contemporary and classic design, the dial itself is embellished with an intricate moon-phase indicator, twin sub-dials, an aperture for the date and a tachymeter scale. Completed with a precise automatic movement, this is a sophisticated timepiece in regard to aesthetic and engineering.

The Skyscraper Boss

Piaget Altiplano Skeleton, paired with Canali Suit, Tumi bag, and Mont Blanc pen

Piaget goes even further beyond the boundaries of refinement and the ultra-thin with a double world record. Two years after launching the double record-holding 1200P caliber, both extremely thin (2.35 mm) and reliable, Piaget presents the thinnest automatic skeleton watch in the world (5.34 mm), housing the thinnest automatic skeleton movement in the world (2.40 mm). The result of unique expertise that Piaget has perpetuated since 1874, this luxury watch is enshrined in its time, as illustrated through its resolutely modern lines that combine the elegance of rose gold with unpretentious anthracite gray. Its skeleton movement has been delicately hollowed by highly-skilled craftsmen. An especially complex operation accomplished with extreme attention to detail without sacrificing reliability or component rigidity. Paying homage to the watchmaker’s traditional art, which they excel in perpetuating, the movement integrates a harmoniously symmetric balance bridge and long curves that cross the mainplate and add overall rigidity. The quest for style is twofold with extraordinary decorative work, interplay of sun-brushed and sand-brushed matte surfaces that contrast with the shimmering brilliance of the edges. This work of art embraces finishes such as hand-worked beveling and drawing that bear the hallmark of highly-accomplished craftsmen. The attention to detail also applies to the screws (traditionally blued), the hands and the rose-gold-hued, platinum microrotor. A state-of-the-art luxury watch that perpetuates the traditions of the craft where, the rose gold and anthracite tones of the case blend harmoniously with the gray hues of the alligator-skin strap. A pure, sublime interaction between engineering and external finishing details.
