About Jang Dong Gun

Jang Dong Gun, who was born on 7 March 1972 and grew up in Seoul, is one of the first actors and musicians in South Korea to achieve superstar status far beyond the borders of his own country. He became known to a broad public with the two television series, Our Heaven and The Final Jump in 1994. He won the Blue Best Dragon New Actor Award for his first motion picture Repechage in 1997 and again two years later for his role in Nowhere to Hide. In 2001, he played in the mafia drama Friend, which broke all viewer records. He received another Blue Dragon Award for the film Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War in 2004, which broke all records with 11.74 million viewers. He played in the Chinese version of the classic French novella Dangerous Liaisons in 2012—and learned Mandarin specifically for this role. Jang Dong Gun has also celebrated great success as a musician. He has released four albums so far.
